The objectives of the RAKAI JOURNALISTS’ ASSOCIATION are:

1. To unite all journalists operating within Rakai district for a common voice on matters regarding press work.
2. To exchange experiences and ideas on matters concerning the journalism profession and the community in which we operate.
   • To find possible solution to problems that affect members of the association as a group, individuals.
3. To promote cultural values and practices’
4. To strengthen information systems for HIV prevention at all levels through reporting.
5. To strengthen the capacity of the people to influence policy and decision making in their favor and strengthen local services
   • To collaborate with organisations or associations within and outside the district and Uganda that have similar objectives
   • To sensitize the public on the activities of media operators with a view of boosting information flow and defending their rights.
6. To engage in lawful business ventures aimed at generating resources for the Association’s program sustainability.
7. To facilitate the right and ability of children, the elderly and disabled people to attain their full potential and assist in assuring their survival to achieve that potential
8. Partner with likeminded agencies pioneering innovative ways of addressing Human Rights and poverty related issues, and also lobby government to improve on Human Rights practices.
   • To undertake any other activities that are necessary for the effective realisation of the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the association stated above.
